Irma Mary Gemaehlich, daughter of Otto H. and Babetta (Gutmann) Bublitz was born in Grafton, Iowa, on November 5, 1909. She was baptized November 28, 1909 by the Rev. John Landdeck. She was confirmed on April 5, 1925 by the Rev. C. Landdeck. She attended school in the Grafton area through the ninth grade, when she left school to help her parents farm.

On February 3, 1929 she married Gerhardt J. Gemaehlich. Four children were born to them. They resided for a time in southern Nebraska and central Iowa before moving to the St. Ansgar area in 1941.
Mrs. Gemaehlich was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church, a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and an active member in the Mary Circle.

Mrs. Gemaehlich is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Lawrence (Janet) Walk of Lyle, Minnesota, and Mrs. Lee (Margaret) Cowell of St. Ansgar; by two sons: Duane of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Leon of Charles City, Iowa; by 18 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; by two sisters: Mrs. Jack (Pearl) Miles of Osage, Iowa, and Adeline Kroneman of Mason City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Rheinhold; two sisters, Clara Bublitz and Mrs. Linda Clausen; her parents and her husband, Gerhardt.

Funeral services were held June 15 at the Immanuel Lutheran church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery.
