Surrounded by her family, Ruby Phillips Cox, 91, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2017.

Ruby was part of the Greatest Generation. Born during the Great Depression, she married a sailor and did her part to support the war effort in World War II. She raised three children and made sure they were educated and became productive citizens. Ruby loved her God, her country, her family and her garden.

A native of Mill Spring, NC, she was a daughter of the late Elijah and Mattie Davis Phillips, widow of Henry Marshall Cox, was a Certified Nursing Assistant involved with home nursing, and was a member of Loree United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Sylvia C. Turner of N. Augusta, SC and Phyllis C. McBride of Inman; five grandchildren, John and Jerry McBride, Alice Cox, Phillip Turner, and Kim Price; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased also by a son, Jerry M. Cox; five brothers, Romeo, Aubrey, Charles, Jim and Ben Phillips and two sisters, Lockie Jones and Lois Collins.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Chaplain Justin Nelson.
