MONTROSE -- Jacob C. Berger, 92, who ranched near Towner for most of his life, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the home of his son, Leland Berger, on California Mesa.
Mr. Berger had lived with his son since the death of his wife Oct. 6, 1973.
The Bergers moved to Delta in 1948 following their retirement. They attended the Church of God in Delta.
Mr. Berger was born July 24, 1882, at Summerfield, Ill, and lived there until he moved to Towner in 1907 where he owned and operated the Locust Grove ranch Until 1947. He married Mary Ann Marolf at Tribune, Kan., on May 24, 1915.
Mr. Berger's chief outside interest was baseball, a game which he played until middle age.
Surviving in addition to the son here are two other sons, Richard Berger of Eads and Marolf Berger of Oklahoma City; two sisters, 17 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
