Died: April 23, 2017

Kathleen "Kay" Coldwater (nee Jackson), of Elwood, passed away peacefully, at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Sunday, April 23, 2017. Age 88 years.

Survived by her son, Larry (Julie) Coldwater; two grandchildren, Aaron and Anna Coldwater. Her sister, Emlyn June (Vennis) Voges; son-in-law, Louie Boseo. A step-brother, Bob (Janice) Gordon; and a step-sister, Eloise (Ken) Bertrand; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Jackson. Her nieces and nephews, Judi Jennings, Jerry Jackson, Curtis Voges and Kent Voges. Also her caregivers, Bobbie Newman, Grace Jankowska, Becky and Jenny Henry.

Preceded in death by her husband, Lavern A. Coldwater (1999); a daughter, Linda Coldwater Boseo (1982); and a brother, Keith Jackson (2004).

Kay was born in Kankakee County on June 8, 1928 to Noble and Elsie Jackson. She attended Peotone High School and graduated from Reddick High School Class of 1946. Kay was a graduate of the Silver Cross School of Nursing Class of 1949. She worked at Silver Cross Hospital, was the nurse for Elwood Community School and Johnson and Johnson Personal Products in Wilmington. With her husband and son, Kay was a partner in Coldwater Seed Farm in Elwood. Member, Deacon and Elder of Elwood Community Church and member of the Will County Farm Bureau. Kay was a loving and deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother, known as "Baba Kay" by many, who enjoyed entertaining at home and gardening, who will be greatly missed. She enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels in her yard and loved her Great Pyrenees dogs Pyre & Baby.

Lying in State at the Elwood Community Church, 101 S Chicago St, Elwood, Friday, April 28th from 10:00 A.M. till time of services at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Carrie Kapral officiating. Interment Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
