Clara Frances Tompkins, 92, a former resident of Queen City, died Wednesday morning (Jan. 9, 1985) at the Veteran's Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

The daughter of John Imanuel and Amanda (Stokesberry) Glaspie, she was born May 15, 1893 in Adair county. On April 19, 1954, she married Earnest R. Tompkins who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Howard Lavern Barnett and Paul Barnett, both of Waterloo, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Velma Lorene Barnett; a son, Gerald Francis Barnett; three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Tomkins was a nurse for 16 years in Waterloo before moving to Queen City. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 12, 1985) at the Davis-Playle Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Rowland of Greentop officiating. Burial will be in the New Harmony cemetery, west of Greentop. Bearers will be Douglas Barnett, Paul Barnett Jr., Wayne Barnett, Patrick Barnett, Gene Tabor and Shane Broten.
