WATERLOO — Paul L. Barnett, 97, of Waterloo, died at home Sunday, Nov. 18, of natural causes.
He was born July 24, 1915, in Adair County, Mo., near Queen City, son of Isaac and Clara Glaspie Barnett.
He married Virginia Hickman on Oct. 11, 1939, in Waterloo. She died March 27, 2007.
Mr. Barnett was employed at John Deere Tractor Works in the heat-treat department for more than 38 years, retiring in 1974. He also worked construction during the Civilian Conservation Corps era. He was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church.
Survived by: a son, Paul (Deb) of Dubuque; four daughters, Patricia (Don) Herbsleb of Weslaco, Texas, Carol (Erwin) Luloff and Diania (Keith) Schultz, both of Waterloo, and Carla (Jim) Amling of New Hartford; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a son, Douglas; two brothers, LaVern H. "Pat" and Gerald Barnett; a sister, Velma Barnett; and four grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hagerman Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel and an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to the church or Allen Hospice.
