Jean Dufour dit Brindamour married Marie Philippe DeCoux about 1753. They likely married at Arkansas Post.

Jean was a voyageur/bourgeois by trade. He was murdered about November 1758 while hunting by the River "DesAus" by one of his own men, Francisco Morvan(t) dit Bernard. Jean's body was never found. The trial of Morvan(t) for Brindamour's murder did not take place until May 1770.

A religious ceremony was held for him at St. François d’Assise on 13 February 1759.
