Church Services for Kenneth Wayne Ashley, 76, of Roaring Springs, will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Roaring Springs with Joe Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Roaring Springs Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Matador. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Ashley passed from this life on April 3, 2017 in Newport Beach, California.
Kenneth was born on April 3, 1941 in Dickens, Texas to Carl Hines and Edith Faye (Underwood) Ashley. He graduated from Roaring Springs High School. After his graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served in Vietnam. He was Honorably Discharged on August 8, 1967.
Kenneth worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, 8 of those he served while he was in the Air Force. He loved to read, go to church and go out to breakfast. Kenneth loved to golf, and going to look for rare books. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Larry Ashley and wife Lola of Ontario, CA., Marilyn Ashley and boyfriend Jeramy Virgin of Torrance, CA., April (Ballard) Ashley of Eastvale, CA., and Crystal Khankap and husband Chris of Westminster, CA.,loving ex wife and dear friend Donna Ashley, six grandchildren Taylor Ballard (25), Riley Ballard (18), Julianna Ashley (17), Joseph Ballard (16), Stephanie Ashley (9), and Alexia Khankap (11); numerous nieces and nephews, and his sister; Joyce Meredith and husband Joe Glenn of Roaring Springs.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Carl Hines and Edith Faye Ashley, his brother; Roger Ashley, and his sister; Shirley Smith.
