page 200 of New York History, LDS film # 6046620, states that Samuel and his brother Joseph were engaged in the manufacture of tar and pitch, and also operated a farm in East Windsor, CT. His farm was later known as the "Landlord Allen" farm, and was situated on the old stage road from Springfield to Hartford, CT.
