Lewis Joseph Ripple, aged 83, died at 10:50 Friday night at the home of his sisters in Rouzerville. He had been ill for the last five weeks and critically ill the last three days.
He was born east of Waynesboro in the Ripple homestead, the son of James A. and Sarah (Barkdoll) Ripple. The family moved to Waynesboro when he was just a boy.
He learned the boiler maker’s trade at Frick Company. He followed that occupation until his retirement 14 years ago. For the last 30 years, Mr. Ripple resided at Rouzerville. After the death of his wife, Nettie (Kepperly), 15 years ago, he made his home with his sisters in Rouzerville.
He was a member of the Methodist Church of Rouzerville.
Surviving are four sisters and a brother, Catherine H. Ripple, Anna Laura Ripple, and Nettie M. Ripple, all at home; Mrs. Stover Wingert, Waynesboro, and William H. Ripple of Waynesboro.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Grove Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Kenneth Bonham. Interment will be in Harbaugh's Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home.
