Michael P. Sullivan was a railroad brakeman and conductor in Pittsburgh. He married Mary Emma Manning on 24 Nov 1886. They were the parents of three sons: William Aloysius, Joseph Patrick, and Raymond Thomas. After Emma contracted tuberculosis, her half-sister, Tessie Junkins came to Pittsburgh to care for Emma and the boys. Emma died 20 Sep 1893. Michael married Tessie on 28 Dec 1896 and they had two children: Helen Held and Harold Vincent. Tessie died of tuberculosis 29 November 1900. The disease also took the lives of Helen and Harold. Michael married a third time 18 August 1903 to Mary A. Callaghan, who died in 1914. Michael and his fourth wife, Mary T. Lanahan, retired to Florida in the late 1930s.

A retired railroad yardmaster who has lived in St. Petersburg the past four years, Michael Patrick Sullivan, 77, died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon at his home, 333 Second street south. Mr. Sullivan came here from Pittsburgh, Pa. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Sullivan, and two sons, Raymond T. Sullivan of Connellsville, Pa., and William Sullivan of Pittsburgh. Mr. Sullivan was a member of Holy Name society and St. Mary's church. Funeral arrangements are in charge of John S. Rhodes.
