JOHN McKINNEY
John McKinney, 94, Kansas City, Kan., died Jan. 20, 1989, at Medicalodge East, 6261 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kan. He was born in Indianola, Miss., and lived in this area since 1925. Mr. McKinney was a meatpacker for more than 50 years for Swift & Co. and retired in 1965. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kan. Survivors include two sons, Donald L. McKinney Sr. and Samuel McKinney of Kansas City, Kan.; nine daughters, Thelma Weaver and Earline Jackson of Los Angeles, Doris Moore, Johnetta Wallace, May Frances Young, Verdis J. Bluett and Sylvia McKinney of Kansas City, Kan., Ruby Brooks, Kansas City, and Jean Brooks, Chicago; a sister, Viola Grubbs, Chicago; 50 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church; burial in the National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mrs. J.W. Jones Memorial Chapel.
