DEATH OF A NOBLE WOMAN
MRS. HELEN RICHARDSON DWIGHT NO MORE.

Was the Daughter of Col. William A. Richardson and Wife of Theodore T. Dwight—Death Occurs at Chicago.

William A. Richardson has received a telegram telling him that his sister. Mrs. Helen Richardson Dwight, passed away at 10:45 o'clock last night at her home, 6153 Ellis avenue, Chicago, Ill.

Mrs. Dwight was born at Rushville. Ill., on the 3rd day of September, 1841, and was therefore in her sixty-first year. Her father, the late Colonel William A. Richardson, moved to Quincy with his family in the summer of 1840. In the schools of Rushville, Quincy. Washington City and Kentucky, Mrs. Dwight obtained her education. In the years just prior to and during the first part of the civil war Mrs. Dwight, as Helen Richardson, was one of the most popular society girls of this city. On the 24th of April, 1822—just forty years ago last Thursday—she was married to Theodore T. Dwight and went to live at Davenport, Iowa. In 1863 her husband was made a quartermaster in the army, and Mrs. Dwight came home to be with her invalid mother. On the 22nd of April. 1864. her mother died, and Mrs. Dwight went to St. Raul, Minn., where her husband was then stationed. In the winter of 1864-5 Captain Dwight was ordered to Sioux City, and he and his wife staged it across the bleak prairies of Iowa to that, then, outpost town. In the summer of 1865 her husband was ordered to Texas, and Mrs. Dwight came back to Quincy, got the scattered members of her father's family together, and opened up the old Richardson home at the corner of Fourth and Broadway. Soon afterwards her husband resigned from the army, and they made Quincy their home from that time until December. 1881, when Captain Dwight moved his family to Peoria. Peoria was their home town until 1896, when they went to Covington. Ky., to live. They moved from Covington to Chicago in 1900.

Four children were born to this couple—two of whom lived to maturity, Daisy and Mabel.

Mrs. Dwight is survived by her husband, her daughter Mabel—Mrs. Mary Ralston Dwight Broadhurst — her grandchildren Helen Dwight Chase, Louise Gibson Chase and Theodore Dwight Broadhurst: her brothers William A. Richardson and John S. Richardson, her niece Susie Richardson Niedringhaus. and other relatives.

Her body will be brought to Quincy for burial...
