Wendell Berry, 67, of Piggott died Monday, March 25, 2002, at his home. He was born July 18, 1934, in Mountain View, Ark., the son of the late Wiley and Olga Berkley Berry.

He married Lavonne Weece on Aug. 29, 1953. To this union seven children were born.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Frieta McCullough.

He is survived by his wife, Lavonne; seven children, Timmy Berry and wife, Christi, of Springfield, Mo., Arlene Gregory and husband, Roger, of Rector, Marlene Berry of Dexter, Mo., Vicki Berry and friend, Billy, of Gulfport, Miss., Teresa Scharer and husband, Corky, of Britton, Mich., Lonnie Berry and wife, Lisa, of Prescott, Ariz., and Melissa Berry of Marmaduke; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Marvin Berry of Mountain View, Norman Berry of Coolidge, Ariz., Charley Berry of Eads, Tenn., George Berry of Indianapolis, Ind., and Benny Berry of Texas; two sisters, Betty Russell of Mountain Home and Jane Lacy of Harrisburg; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with John Iggens officiating. Burial was in Gravel Hill Cemetery near St. Francis with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Jimmy Graddy, Kevin Gurley, Michael Gurley, Ronnie Graddy, Max Poole and Phillip Wagster.
