Oliver "OB" Bales, son of the late John A. and Elizabeth Baty Bales, was born Jan. 30, 1883 in Richmond, MO, and departed this life July 3, 1976 in the V.A. Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO, at the age of 83 years, five months and three days.
He was united in marriage June 9, 1918 at Rover, MO, to Alice Willard.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Alice Bales of the home, Thomasville, MO; five sons, Willard Bales of Alton, MO; Rev. Bill Bales of Alton, MO; John Oliver Bales of Oglesby, IL; Don Bales of Thayer, MO; and Jack Bales of High Ridge, MO; two daughters, Mrs. Ellen Morris of Thomasville, MO; and Mrs. Joe Williams of Thomasville, MO; one brother Frank Bales of Thomasville, MO; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
His parents, three brothers, and three sisters preceded him in death.
He had been a member of the Methodist Church at Thomasville since 1923.
He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Thomasville American Legion Post No. 504
