He was from Memel, Lithuania which is now known as Klaipėda, Lithuania. He immigrated to Baltimore on the SS Donau, arriving on March 17, 1887.

Husband of Ida Kaminsky. They married on November 23, 1890 in Norfolk, Virginia. They were the parents of Annette Liebman Rosenthal on July 27, 1892.

Abe then married Amelia "Millie" Oppenheimer, the daughter of Michael and Mina Oppenheimer. They married on April 20, 1902 in Washington, D.C. Amelia Oppenheimer and Abe Liebman divorced sometime before 1908. She never remarried.

Finally, Abe married Fannie Levi, daughter of Charles and Lizzie (Wetzler) Kaufman. Abe and Fannie married on October 22, 1908. They were the parents of Deborah Mae Liebman Pocker

"Liebman Rites To Be Held Here Today
Abraham Liebman, 83, who began his career as a peddler with a pack and became a major developer of apartment housing in Washington, died Monday at his home at the Woodley Park Towers, 2737 Devonshire place nw., which he built and owned.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m. today at his home, with graveside services at the Washington Hebrew Congregation Cemetery.

A native of Memel, Lithuania, Mr. Liebman came to this country at the age of 13, and had lived in Washington since 1900, when he and his brother, the late Barney Liebman, established Liebman Bros., a wholesale grocery firm.

As a young man, Mr. Liebman sold merchandise from a peddlers pack though the mountains of Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. An adventurous life took him before the turn of the century to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he dealt in horses, lumber and mining interests.

Mr. Liebman's wife, Fannie Kaufman Liebman, died in 1952.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Samuel M. Pocker and Mrs. Jack Rosenthal, both of Woodley Park Towers, and one grandson." From the Washington Post and Times Herald, October 6, 1954, page 18
