Eleanor Adolphson Landry, 86, went home to be with the Lord with family at her side at Viewcrest Health Center. She was born to Victor and Ellen Bergstrom Jan. 7, 1921 in Aitkin, Minn. Eleanor moved to Duluth as a child and lived in New Duluth, and attended Morgan Park School. She married Elwood Adolphson Sept. 16, 1942 in Texas while El was in the service. She was a homemaker who loved to entertain guests, and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. Eleanor was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, and was active in school and church activities. She later went to work at Glass Block as a buyer and retired after 25 years. Eleanor married Lucien Landry a few years before retirement. They loved to travel and belonged to the Holiday Rambler Trailer Travel Club. Her greatest joy in life was being with family. Eleanor will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Iver Bergstrom; two husbands, Elwood Adolphson of 30 years; Lucien Landry of 21 years; and son-in-law, Bob Hood. Eleanor is survived by three children, Shirley (Paul) Mettner of White Face Lake, Jan Hood of Superior, Les (Rosie) Adolphson of Esko; six grandchildren, Nancy Lefort of Melbourne, Fla., Dan Mettner of Duluth, Brian Hood of Pensacola, Fla., Shelley Parenteau of Superior, Ryan and Pat Adolphson both of Duluth; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elsie Adolphson of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL SERVICE:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 in First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth (218) 624-5050. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, and one hour prior to the service Saturday morning, a reception will follow. Burial will take place at Oneota Cemetery, Pastor Jim Goodenberger officiating services.
