Mozelle attended Cullman (AL) High School. A kind, loving and sweet lady, she had one of the most important jobs in her younger days, she was an amazing stay-at-home mom. Her children recall how she was a loving, strong and determined mother. She raised four children and in her free time, Mozelle would run errands for her husband’s business, Sign Engineers. A lady of strong faith, she was a very active member of East Amory Baptist Church. Mozelle was involved in VBS, Meals-on-Wheels and kitchen work in her church. She dearly loved the Lord, her children and grandchildren.
Mattie McCollum, Sue Shelton and Mozelle, affectionately known as the “Golden Girls,” would meet for breakfast, make their rounds checking on older members of the church. They enjoyed meeting with many people especially Mrs. Hattie Gaines. They loved to go shopping and eat lunch together. Mozelle was blessed with many other friends and she loved to listen to Gospel music and Tennessee Ernie Ford.
She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Upton (Ernie), Belden, and Rhonda Betts, Amory; son, Steve Aldridge (Melinda), Amory; daughter-in-law, Sharon Aldridge, Amory; Grandchildren, Hannah Jackson (Chris), Jasmine Barnette, Ginger Holloway, Shauna Davis (Marty), Susan Aldridge, Haley, Waylon, Nikki, Joseph Upton, Zack Upton, Anthony Sandlin, Nicki Sandlin; Great-Grandchildren: Ethan Jackson, Hailee Davis, Kaylon, Logan, Kaitlan, Nicholas, Becky Jo, Zayda, Shawna, Layla; special friends, Jo Pearson, Sue Shelton, Mattie McCollum and Jewel Kyle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ron; sisters, May Bell Scott, Jewel Scott and Louise Moore; brothers, Julius, Sam and Carl Swann; great-grandchildren, Grace and Isaac.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, March 16 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Roger Akers and Bro. Ronnie Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Jackson; Joseph, Shane and Zachary Upton; Larry Kuykendall; Kenny Powell; Ray Warren and Ricky Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the ladies from her Sunday School Class at East Amory Baptist Church.
