Nellie was the owner of Stuehm Enterprises for 24 years and a member of the Tucson Business Women, Eastern Star and the Royal Neighbors. She was a member of Broadway Christian Church.
She died February 10, 2003, at Belaire Adult Care, in Tucson, Arizona. Nellie also has a cenotaph inscription on the stone for her first husband Orville E. Penrod in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa.
