Phoebe May Walker Jenkins
Phoebe passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007 at the age of 87 surrounded by her children. She was born eight weeks premature, weighing 2.5 pounds on Sept. 2, 1919 to Lorin Lyman Walker and Vera May Hendricks in Inkom, Idaho. She is the mother of seven children, 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, quilting, writing poetry and family history. In her younger years, she enjoyed hiking in the hills, basketball and writing for the school newspaper. At age 50, she started running a daycare in her home until she retired. After retiring, she focused more on her hobbies and writing. She is survived by one brother, Horace Walker; two sisters, Norma Broadhead and Vera Ellis; and her seven children, Leroy Jenkins, Steven Jenkins, Verleen Heck, Kathleen Jenkins, Peggy Jenkins, David Jenkins and Lorin Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Lowell Walker, Leland Walker, Thaddeaus Walker and her sisters, Arvilla Lewis, Adrienne Worth, and Lois Morris. Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Cloverdale Funeral Home in the chapel, with graveside service following at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
