Mary Margaret Swan, 92, died peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters and husband of 71 years. Mary, who was born in Bicknell, Indiana to Anna Cole Williams was raised by her mother and kind stepfather George Turner. As a child of the Great Depression, Mary became a trailblazer in business while raising 6 children. She was a well-known real estate agent in Southern Indiana during the 1970's and 1980's establishing Swan Realty with her husband, Sam. Mary was also an accomplished artist and poet. She was a founding member of Hayswood Theatre in Corydon, Indiana. Later in her life, Mary bought and sold antiques and opened her own store, The Cabbage Patch. To his day, her rare books and postcards can be found on her eBay account. Her parents, her son Richard and her granddaughter, Carly Marie Birkla as well as her sisters Edna Atkins, Rosie Parr,, Georgie Turner, Ellen Roberson, Francis Kane and a brother David Adamson preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Sam Swan, her 5 daughters, Sandra Drewry of Eaton, Ohio, Sheri Swan of Terre Haute, Indiana, Melissa Swan of Louisville, Kentucky, Kelly Birkla of Leavenworth, Indiana and Beth Swan Wilson of Evansville, Indiana. Mary was Mamaw to 13 grandchildren, as well as many great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
