A memorial service for Frances A. Kane, 69, of New Albany, will be 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Crawford County Consolidated Methodist Church in Leavenworth, with a dinner following at the Fredonia Community Center. She died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Corydon, from cancer.

The daughter of Anne and Frank Adamson, she was born June 28, 1940, in Leavenworth and she eventually settled in New Albany, where she worked at Family and Social Services office in Floyd County until retirement.

She has been an accomplished single mother of two children setting a loving and supportive example for her children in every way. She has also been an adoring and nurturing grandmother who demonstrated unconditional love for her grandchildren and limitless interest in their lives. She was an avid book collector who enjoyed reading, time with family, "boutique" browsing, baking, and years of weekly trips for breakfast and shopping with her brother, David and her Aunt Beulah.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sisters, Georgie Turner, Rosie Parr and Ellen Roberson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any hospice services.
