Jean DeWeese Preas passed away peacefully on Saturday February 25, 2017 after a long and fulfilling life.

Mrs. Preas was born in Roanoke, Virginia on April 21, 1930.

She and her husband Fred retired to the Myrtle Beach area 30 years ago to enjoy the warmer climate and golf.

She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Mrs. Preas had a kind and generous heart and will be missed greatly.

She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Mrs. Preas was predeceased in death by her husband of 58 years, Freddie Garland Preas, Jr., a son Capt. Michael L. Preas, a brother Hugh DeWeese, and brother in-laws, Basil Price, and George Preas.

Surviving are: her daughter and son in-law Susan and Mitchell Trotter of Texas, a sister Katherine Price of Conway, 2 grandchildren, April Trotter of Missouri and Jessica Batchelor and husband Brett of Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday March 3, 2017 at 2:00pm at the open air chapel at Hillcrest Mausoleum, 1000 Hwy 544, Conway, SC 29526. The family will receive friends at the mausoleum following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Epworth Children’s Home, 2900 Millwood Avenue, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
