David Alonzo Albury was an Journeyman Electrician in Miami. He attended one year at U of M then joined the Navy and became a Torpedomans mate 2. He was stationed in Key West aboard the USS Gilmore AS 19, a sub tender. My brother Dan was born at BocaChica Naval Hospital. After he got out he joined the IBEW in Miami I'm guessing through his uncle Urban Albury. After a few years as an apprentice he became a journyman. He worked on many of the (New) hotels going up on the beaches of Miami. One time before I was born he went to Steubenville Oh. to work on a Power plant and he told stories of working building stuff at Cape Canaveral. In 1967 feeling poorly he went to the Dr. and was told his BP was very high and after tests they found his kidney's were damaged and eventually stopped working. He went to a VA hospital in Nashville Tn and waited for 2 years for a transplant. After a successville transplant he came home and after a few years he and Barbara decided they had grown in different directions so they divorced after 17 years. David played slide trumbone at U of M and he tried out and was selected to play for the Miami Philharmonic. He also sang baritone in the Miami Choral society. He was active in his church and sang in the church chroir as well. David, my father was a very smart man, very philosophical. The one Hollywood actor that reminds me of my dad is James Earl Jones. David sounded like him, laughed like him and like Mr. Jones, David was a Class Act. Dad passed from Kidney failure very quickly in the VA hospital in Miami in 1983 with my sister Deanna at his side. He was a Great guy and from his own words to me, happy with his life.
