This year 2017 - our YDNA was done for our Almand family.
Our name is not ALMAND/ALMOND or any variations of this name.
We can only trace (with proofs) our family line back to Thomas Almand, Sr. born 1762 who married Annice Ussery.
Familytree DNA told me that for some reason Irish people changed their names - a lot! There are eight pages of names matching our YDNA. But only four (4) names of Almand variations. At this point we may never find the answer to this. Contact me if you are interested in these YDNA results. [email protected]

Nancy Jane Almand, daughter of Henry Pryor Almand, Sr. and his first wife Selah Willson, married Andrew Nathan Plunkett on 5 November 1868 in Newton County, Georgia. Andrew was the son of Nathan Plunkett of South Carolina.

In 1870, Andrew and Nancy Jane were living near Conyers, in Newton Co, GA. By 1880, they had moved to the Rockbridge District of Gwinnett Co., but eventually they moved back to Newton Co., by 1900.

Their children included Selah F. Plunkett, who must have died young; Marion H. Plunkett, Lenora Plunkett, who probably did not marry; Mary L. Plunkett, Andrew Floyd Plunkett, who moved to Fort Worth, Texas; Lily P. Plunkett, Vannie Lou Plunkett, who married J. W. Jennings; Thomas J. Plunkett, and John W. Plunkett.

After Nancy's death, Andrew married a lady named Maggie.
