Richard John Ackerman, 89 years old, of Chula Vista, passed away on January 24, 2017. He was born in Morton, Illinois on January 3, 1928. He married the love of his life, Georgia Estes, on June 25, 1955. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage and three children; son, Eric and two daughters, Kristi and Jennifer. Richard had a career as a loan officer with Bank of America for more than 20 years. He was a dedicated member of Masonic Blue Lodge. Richard had many hobbies, among those were golfing, traveling, and cooking for family and friends. He is survived by his spouse, Georgia, son, Eric Ackerman, daughters, Kristi Miller and Jennifer Bickel and grandson Colin Bickel. Richard's life will be celebrated with a visitation at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910 on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Thursday, February 2, 2017, a funeral service will be held at Chula Vista Presbyterian Church, 44 Hilltop Drive, Chula Vista, CA 91910 at 12:30 p.m. followed with interment at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. United State Army honors will be presented to thank him for his service during the Korean War.
