Chester Eugene Dodds, 94, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.
Chester was born March 29, 1922, in Caney, Okla., to Samuel and Minnie Lou Dodds. He joined the Army on Nov. 18, 1942, where he served his country proudly. Chester married Ollie Lawanda Gay in 1953 and they made Amarillo their home. He worked for Amarillo Hardware for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ollie; a daughter, June E. Dodds; five sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his children, Curtis E. Dodds and wife Karen, Ruth E. Cooper, Samuel D. Dodds, Darlene Dodds, Charolette K. Hunter and husband Kenneth, Thomas W. Dodds and Timothy D. Dodds and wife Beverly; a brother, Dean Dodds; a brother-in-law, Stanley Massey; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
