Ralph M. Ballowe
APPOMATOX- Ralph McLane Ballowe, 70, of Rt. 5, died Friday evening, Sept. 26, 2003 in the Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Jackie Jamerson Ballowe.

Born Sept. 30, 1933 in Nelson Co., he was a son of the late Willis E. and Gabe Johnson Ballowe. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church,Lynchburg, Appomattox Moose Lodge #975, American Legion Post #104 and was a retired manager with the Virginia ABC Board. Ralph also served in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, T. W. Ballowe and his wife, Marsha; a daughter, Cathryn B. Mobley and his husband, Larry; two grandchildren, Thomas Wayde Ballowe and Becky Mobley, all of Appomattox; one brother, Robert L Ballowe and his wife, Eleanor, Lynchburg; three sisters, Lucille B. Baldwin and Berksie B. Adams, both of Arrington and Virginia R. Tompkins and her husband, Tommy of Hawaii; along with a number of nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Humie D. Ballow and Vernon D. Ballowe and three sisters, Carrie Woodson, Viola Burnette and Ann Thacker preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be hold 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2003 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. John Muth and Dr.Chris King. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 16.

Those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Dept. P.O.Box 894, Appomattox, Va. 24522, or the American Cancer Society, c/o Mary Alma Hudson, Rt. 4, Box 627, Appomattox, Va 24522, or your favorite charity.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Virginia Baptist Hospital 5th floor Mundy nurses and staff, Dr. Dwight S. Oldham and the Luynchburg Hematology-Oncology Clinic staff, nurses and doctors.
