{12 Mar 2017: Biography of Rick by Grant Collar, b.1931. I was Rick’s ninth grade algebra teacher at Yreka High School, Yreka, Siskiyou County, California in 1969-70. In Jan 1970, we moved inside Yreka to 213 S Fairchild St, which was about 200 yards from Rick’s home at 804_W_Lane St.

Richard Louis “Rick” BAILEY Sr, born 02_Feb_1953 Vallejo, Solano County, California, died 16 Mar 2010 of a brain aneurysm and was found in the living room of a home where he was staying in Montague, Siskiyou County. He was cremated and buried Evergreen Cemetery, Yreka. After his brother, Dan, and Geraldine ALBERS Bailey divorced, Rick married Geraldine (daughter of Lucille JOHNSON Albers, 1930-2014) and had three daughters and a son: Jamal, Charmin, and Angelina, and Richard Louis Bailey Jr. About 2003, he married Barbara Barnes.

The following obituary says Rick served two years in the US Marines, but he was never in the military and it was his older brother, Tom, who served two years in the US Marines (per their sister, Sandra "Sandy" BAILEY Elliott Spead, 16 Feb 2017 email to this writer.)

Richard Louis Bailey Sr., a 57-year-old Montague resident and Karuk Tribal Member, passed away at home on March 16, 2010.

Rick was born on Feb. 2, 1953 in Vallejo to Thomas and Bonnie Bailey. Richard loved all western movies and he listened to country music. He enjoyed dancing and was a great cook. Rick was a smart, caring man. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing with his grandsons, Cyliss and Carnell and playing horseshoes with friends and family. He loved camping, hunting and playing baseball during his high school years. He loved telling stories.

Rick was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving for two years. Rick worked many jobs: logging, wildland firefighter, potatoes, tree planter and caretaker. Rick was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Rick was married to his childhood sweetheart Geraldine Albers and they were married for 16 years. He was then married to Barbara Barnes for seven years.

In addition to his wife Barbara, survivors include his children, Jamal, Charmin, Angelina Bailey, and Richard Louis Bailey Jr; his daughter-in-law Stacy Phillips; Geraldine Jr. and son-in-law Albert Horton Sr.; Schuldzie and REL Bailey; he also considered Delila Super his daughter, having raised her along with his other children; and his grandchildren, Jolie-Ann Super, Cyliss, Carnell, Taay, Albert Horton Jr., Dustin Phillips, Schuldzie Jr., Iimnih and Evalina Bailey.
