Richard G. Beer, 66, of Mansfield died early Saturday morning, February 1, 2003 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Beer was born April 12, 1936 in Mansfield to Louie and Marebelle Dillon Beer and was an area resident all his life. He retired from General Motors. Richard was a member of the Oldsmobile Club of American and the Sons of Herman. He loved his six grandchildren, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by a his wife of 46 years, Barbara Mehl Beer; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Tom Hegarty of North Carolina and Deb and Randy Marshall of Lucas, Ohio; six grandchildren, T.J. Hegarty, Allyssa Hegarty, Ellen Hegarty, Sarah Hegarty, Ricky Marshall and Whitney Marshall; a brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Elsa Beer of Lexington, Ohio; a sister, Marlene Manley of Mansfield; two nephews, Scott Beer of Marion, Ohio and Rocky and his wife, Erin Beer of Hilliard, Ohio; a niece, Cathy Lozier of Columbus; very special cousins, Red and Eve Hesseldon and Jim and Phyllis Hesseldon, all of Mansfield; and a number of aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Sunday, February 2 from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 10:00 a.m., conducted by Rev. Christopher Thomas. Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.age 66
