"Alonzo, son of Wm. Boot, age 3, died 1841" This transcription was taken from a written assignment done by some school children in 1918. They were from the nearby Bennett School on Miller Rd. This date of death is probably wrong, because Alonzo was not with the family when they crossed over from England in 1841. It is very likely that the date of death was 1844, not 1841. If you look closely at the William Boot gravestone, at the age 46, you can see how the numeral 4 could be mistaken for a 1. Alonzo could have been born in 1841 and died in 1844, 3 yrs old. None of the other digits after 1844 and up to 1849 could be so easily mistaken, and Alonzo was not with the family in the 1850 census. Andrew Wilson's gravestone has the same kind of chiseled numerals , and he died in 1843, and is buried at Bennett also.
