Thelma Joyce Polk, 88, of Livingston, Tx passed away peacefully unto the Lord on January 29, 2017.

Born January 30, 1928 in Livingston, Tx to the late George and Annie Hubert Ford, she lived all of her life in Polk County and was a member of Midway Community Church. She worked as a LVN for various nursing home, doctor’s offices and hospitals. She was the ultimate caregiver who took care of her family and friends regardless. She loved her Lord and Savior, Pete and her family with all of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, her husband, Vernon “Pete” Polk; and sisters, Jessie Allred, Edna Griffith, Margie Kirkpatrick and Dinah Thielemann.

Thelma is survived by her loving daughters, Judith Kay Soots and husband, Ron of Katy,Darlene Dodson and husband, Gary of Gainesville, Latricia George and husband, Ken of Livingston, Leanne Simpson and husband, Chad of Gainesville; grandchildren, Duane Soots and wife, Jonna, Nicole Turbeville and husband, Joe, Colby Dodson and wife, Lindsay, Ashley George and husband, Nick, K-Dub and wife, Alayna, Laura Boyd and husband, Mike and Tyler Pruitt; great grandchildren, Devon and Lauren Soots, Cody and Lane Johnson, Zoe and Allie Green, Kennedy and Kinsler Dodson, Hayden George, Parker George and Kinsley Boyd; sisters-in-law, Mozelle Dickens and Billie Polk; and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, at 2 pm at the Midway Community Church in Livingston with Brother Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Midway Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 5 pm until 7 pm at Riley Funeral Home.
