It is known that she had married Col. Ebenezer Folsom (1730 - 1789) before 1786, sometime after the death of William Bryan.

The Smith family of Johnston County, North Carolina was quite large with many of the same given names used again and again. I can attest to this in researching my descent also from William Smith (c. 1756 - 1836), the son of Col. John Smith, Jr., (1724 - 1790) and brother of Samuel Smith (1709 - 1783).

The following contributed by Rhonda Brubaker, a descendant of Burrell and Edith (Folsom) Dawson, who was the daughter of Israel and Edith (Bryan) Folsom. Thank you Rhonda.

"Edith (Smith) Bryan Folsom was married to Col. Ebenezer Folsom. They married after the deaths of their first spouses and had no children together. However, Capt. Israel Folsom, eldest son of Col. Ebenezer Folsom, married his step-sister, Edith Bryan who was the daughter of Edith (Smith) Bryan Folsom. Edith (Smith) Bryan Folsom mentions her daughter, Edith Folsom, in her will which is kept at the NC Archives. Col. Ebenezer Folsom's will mentions wife, Edith, and son Israel . . ."

Johnston County, North Carolina Wills, Inventories, and Settlements, Book 1, page 66.
Will of Edith Folsom, dated July 29, 1791, proven Feb. Term 1793.
Sons and daughters listed:
