He was born on February 28, 1923 in Forest City to Floyd Joseph and Ida Pauline (Carpenter) Beale. Carl married Esther Lutz of Pekin on June 17, 1951. Esther passed away January 16, 2011. After her death, he relocated to Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to be near his son and daughter-in-law.
He is survived by his son, Marshall, and daughter-in-law, Lauren, of Waukesha, Wisconsin; one sister, Dalta Lou (Bill) Heinhorst of Hopedale; one brother, John (Joanne) Beale of Canton; one grandson, Joshua Beale of Nashville, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Andrea (Francisco) Miyares of Hillsborough, New Jersey; one great-grandson Gabriel Miyares; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Eileen (Don) Sours, Lois (Ed) Munge and Sherry (Jack) Rockhold; and one brother, Nelson (Wilma) Beale.
He was a 1941 graduate of Forest City High School and attended Bradley University in Peoria.
Carl served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and participated in the Pacific battles of Tarawa and Saipan. He suffered wounds in each engagement and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. His unit, the Second Marine Division, was awarded the Navy Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary bravery at Tarawa. He was a member of the Emery Whisler American Legion Post 607 in Mackinaw, and had served 3 terms as Post Commander. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
After the war, he held staff and supervisory positions in accounting at Caterpillar Inc. He retired in 1981 after 37 years of service.
Carl was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin and had served on several boards, including the Board of Elders.
He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin. The Rev. Daniel Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
