Father of Angela Matarazzo and her husband Thomas, Alvan Freeman Jr. and Judi, Raymond Freeman and his wife Debbie, and Ronald Mark Freeman and his wife Maria.

Grandfather of Lisa Ruth, Teresa Khuluki, Melissa Mari, Jessica Pharis, David, Darrick, Christopher, and Matthew Freeman. Great-grandfather of Shawn, Brittany, Magdalen, Devin, Piper, Jacob, and Ava.

Brother of the late Adolph R. Gross, Alice M. White (nee Opdyke), and John B. Updike (spelled Opdyke in the 1930 and 1940 Censuses).

Also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

Alvan was a retired steelworker.

Final arrangements were handled by David J. Weber Funeral Homes, P.A., 401 S. Chester St., Baltimore. The funeral service was held there at 10a.m. on Thursday, April 3.
