Obituary:

Donald Eugene Crisp, son of the late George and Nora Elma (Zirschkey) Crisp, was born on July 22, 1932 in Manes, Missouri, at the family home place where his father was born, and passed away on January 22, 2017 at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 84 years and 6 months of age.

Gene grew up and went to school in Manes, Missouri. He married Coma Leta McGowan. She passed away on May 24, 1966. He later married Alice Bishop. She passed away on August 27, 2004. Gene raised six children: Frank, Earl Gene, Rosie, Michael, Donald Ray, and Leta.

Gene lived in many places while working for L.O. Braton Construction . When Coma became sick, they moved to Manes, where he worked in a saw mill. He then went to work at Brown Shoe Company in Cabool, Missouri, where he retired after working twenty years.

Gene loved to garden. He had a green thumb and could often grow things others could not. He also loved to fish. He was a jokester and enjoyed cutting up with his friends and family. Gene was saved at Bruner Church in the early 2000’s.

Besides his parents and his two wives, Gene was preceded in death by one son, Earl Gene Crisp, a granddaughter, Kimberly D. Sutherland, and three brothers, Dale Daryle “Buddy”, and George Junior.

He is survived by two daughters, Rosie McIntosh and her husband, Dave, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Leta Sutherland and her husband, David, of Wright City, Missouri, three sons, Frank Muzzy of Mountain Grove, Michael Flynn Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Donald Ray Crisp of Mountain Grove, three brothers, Eldon Crisp and his wife, Deena, of Manes, Paul Crisp and his wife, Norma, of Manes, and Johnny Crisp and his wife, Marsha, of Hartville, Missouri, six sisters, Audra Jackson and her husband, Bill, of Mountain Grove, Alice Strong of Cabool, Missouri, Maxine French and her husband, Bob, of Mountain Grove, Suzy McKee of Cabool, Judith Turner of Manes, and Dottie James of Mountain Grove, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends who will miss him greatly.
