Son of the late James Daniel, Sr. and Nancy Lee Campbell Bannister and a retired truck driver for Milliken, where he served for 35 years. Member of the New Pisgah Baptist Church and a Mason. A U. S. Army World War II Veteran. Survivors included: one son; two step-sons; one step-daughter; three brothers, J. D., Fred and Billy Bannister; four sisters, Margie Bannister, Lillis Bannister, Charlotte Smith and Harriet Cartledge; six grandchildren.
