Spartanburg, SC - Gamewell Bannister died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 1984 in Spartanburg General Hospital. Husband of Mrs. Eunice Knox Bannister and native of Abbeville, SC. Son of the late James Daniel, Sr. and Nancy Lee Campbell Bannister and a retired truck driver for Milliken, where he served for 35 years. Member of the New Pisgah Baptist Church and a Mason. A U. S. Army World War II Veteran. Survivors included: one son; two step-sons; one step-daughter; three brothers, J. D., Fred and Billy Bannister; four sisters, Margie Bannister, Lillis Bannister, Charlotte Smith and Harriet Cartledge; six grandchildren.
