Margaret Lucille (Barfield) Cooper, 96, formerly of Marietta and Washington C.H., died peacefully January 13, 2017, at Doctors' Hospital West. Margaret was born November 21, 1921. Retired registered nurse and


served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II.


She later worked as a nurse at several hospitals in southern Ohio, the longest at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Former member of Christ United Methodist Church in Marietta and current member of Grace United Methodist Church in Washington C.H. Logged over 8000 volunteer hours with the Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Preceded in death by loving husband of 70 years James L. Cooper on April 3, 2016 and six siblings Clifton Charles, Jimmie, Dennis, Abner Clifton Barfield, Jr., Hattie Mae Summerlin and Mildred Stott. Margaret was a loving and devoted mother to her sons, Larry Cooper, Phil (Susan) Cooper, Mark (Karen) Cooper and Gary (Faith) Cooper. Also survived by ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and sister, Geneva Rose. Funeral Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 12 Noon at the Grace United Methodist Church, 301 East Market Street, Washington C.H. Interment in Washington Cemetery. Visitation at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of the service. Memorial contributions to the United Service Organization. Arrangements by KIRKPATRICK FUNERAL HOME in Washington C.H.
