HAMPTON - Mildred Virginia Barfield Stott, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital. A native of Green County, N.C., Mrs. Stott was a Peninsula resident for 54 years. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ where she served as secretary of the Philothean Bible Class.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie G. Stott of Yorktown and Penney S. Martin of Poquoson; three sisters, Hattie May Summerlin of Kenly, N.C., Geneva Rose of Wilson, N.C., and Margaret Cooper of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; three brothers, Jimmie Barfield of Kenly, Abner C. Barfield of Oxon Hill, Md., and Clifton Barfield of Lucama, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Northside Church of Christ by Taylor Jefferson. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson, N.C. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Peninsula Funeral Home and other times at 5 Cherokee Drive, Poquoson. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Northside Church of Christ.
