Mrs. Annabelle Fawley Hanshew, 101, of Frederick, passed on to her eternal home on Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Golden Living Center. She was the wife of the late Foster Eugene Hanshew, who died January 6, 1989. Born in Waterford, VA on November 11, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Owen Homer and Nannie Bertha Woodward Fawley. She worked most of her life as a homemaker and cleaning private homes. Annabelle was a long time member of the Edgewood Church of God and attended Day Break Adult Day Care. She loved spending time with her family and sending greeting cards to cheer her many friends. She enjoyed working in her kitchen, cooking, baking, and canning vegetables she grew in her garden. She also loved shopping.

Surviving are her sons, Donald E. Hanshew and wife Lyn, of Walkersville and Wayne L. Hanshew, of Frederick, sister-in-law, Betty Fawley, of Frederick, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by siblings, Owen L. Fawley, Charles R. Fawley, Jack Fawley, Jimmy Fawley, Mamie Fawley Smith, Mary E. Fawley and Lillian Fawley Graham.

Her family would like to extend their gratitude for the loving care of their mother, to the staff of Golden Living Center, many friends from the church and community and to her special niece and care giver, Pat Fagan.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m., on Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Edgewood Church of God, Frederick, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Rev. John Culbertson, Rev. Joe Burdette and Rev. Duane Beck, will officiate. interment will follow in the Rocky Springs Cemetery, Frederick.

Honorary pallbearer will be Pat Fagan and active pallbearers will be Gary Banzhoff, Marvin Bolinger, Jerry Brubaker, Larry Fagan, Scott Fagan, and Clarence Tobery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, MD 21702 or Day Break Adult Day Care Center, 7819 Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702 or Hospice of Frederick County, P. O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
