Emily Margaret Rose Boitano, 91-years-old, died on Monday, January 9, 2017, peacefully at her home in Madera, California. Emily was born on November 21, 1925, in Fresno, California, to Guido and Mary Giuntoli. She graduated from Madera High School in the Class of 1942, and was married to the love of her life, Joseph Boitano, in 1946.

Emily began a career in banking with Crocker Bank; later moving to Bank of America where she worked for twenty-five years holding the position of loan officer. At ease in conversation even with total strangers, Emily developed warm relationships with her customers and became a trusted friend for many. She was known for her willingness to help, and because of her fluency in Italian, she had the ability to assist members of Madera’s Italian descent with their banking needs.

Married for 53 years, Joe and Emily raised their son, Joe, in Madera. Emily faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking/baking from scratch; all of their favorite Italian dishes. A woman of faith, she was an example to all through her works with various Catholic organizations and local charities. With a real zest for life, she loved to dance, entertain friends and family, garden, play cards – especially with “the girls”, chat with friends, and travel.

Emily was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation, serving as President and chairperson of many events, the Ladies Auxilliary of the VFW, serving as President for several years, Madera Community Hospital League, and the Madera Historical Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, and sister, Bette Hunt.

Emily is survived by her son Joe, sister-in-law Mary Sue Ferretti, nieces Cindy Hunt Larson, Lori Hunt Rice, Nella Ferretti Mastagni, Marigene Ferretti Gordon and DeAnna Ferretti, 7 great-nieces and nephews, and 6 great-great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Emily’s wonderful caregivers, Grace Hernandez, Purification Alcaras, Nancy Nieto, and Evelin Gastelum, for their exceptional dedication and tender loving care during her illness.

Visitation for friends and family of Emily Boitano will be from 2:00-5:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service with a Rosary at 5:00pm at Jay Chapel, 1121 Roberts Ave, Madera, CA, on Sunday, January 15, 2017.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 401 West 5th St, Madera, CA, on Monday, January 16, 2011 at 11:00 am. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
