Vera Herin Rogers, age 87, of Allen, Texas, passed away on January 7, 2017. She was born June 27, 1929 in Valley View, Texas to Earnest and Martha (Wilson) Herin. On June 8, 1956, Vera married Louis H. Rogers in Garland, Texas. She retired from J. C. Penney in 2012 after twelve years of employment. Vera was a life member of the VFW Post in Allen, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Louis H. Rogers of Allen, Texas; children, Vicky Rutledge and husband Mike of New Hope, Texas, Cindy Barry and husband Bob of Arlington, Texas, Terry Rogers and wife Melissa of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Kollyndi Rutledge of New Hope, Texas, Rachel Rogers of Allen, Texas and Aubrey Barry of Arlington, Texas.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Martha Herin; sisters, Mary Ruth Powers and Betty Ricks.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held Tuesday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
