Mary Ruth Powers of Garland passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in Rowlett, Texas at the age of 93. The daughter of Ernest and Martha Beck (Wilson) Herin, she was born on July 3, 1921 in Gainesville, Texas.
On July 24, 1942, she married Charles Howard Powers and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garland. Until her retirement, she worked for Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Howard. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Fred Preston of Garland, her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Julie Powers of Garland, a sister, Vera Rogers of Allen, Texas, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 2:00 pm to 4:00pm at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. A service will be held in the Pavilion at the Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, Texas at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 18, 2015.
