Jo Ann Kjorness, age 76, passed away April 9, 2009 at her Los Alamitos home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on March 14, 1933 in Loretta, Kansas to the late Dr. Joe and Matilda Wasinger and was one of 10 children.

She graduated in 1954 from St. Frances School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas, before moving to California.

In 1957 she married Clayton Kjorness who proceeded her in death in 1986. They had two children.

She began working at Bellwood General Hospital later continuing her successful career at Los Alamitos Medical Center in 1977. She was named Director of Operating Room Services in 1986. She received many awards and accolades during a very rewarding career, retiring in 1999.

She is survived by her son, Marc; daughter, Wendy and two grandchildren, Kolby and Cameron.

She will be treasured and missed by all. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 10am Saturday, April 18, 2009.

Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her memory to Companion Hospice Care (8130 Florance Ave. Downey, CA 90240) or St. Hedwig Catholic Church (11482 Los Alamitos Blvd, Los Alamitos, CA 90720).
