She was born June 21, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph John Smith and Zella May Logsdon Smith.

Ms. Smith was raised and educated in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Wyandotte High School. She worked for Swift and Company and for Nelly Don Clothing, as a computer programmer. She moved in the mid 60's and ran an auction house in Climax Springs. She later moved to Edwards, Missouri, where she worked as a real estate agent. She loved music and was a great fan of Engelbert Humperdinck. She loved soap operas, and along with her sister and nephew, appeared as an extra on an episode of Days of Our Lives. She had a very independent spirit. She died Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. Surviving are a brother, Wint "Gene" Smith and wife Sandy, of Sedalia; a sister, Bonnie L. Rowland and husband Bob, of Parkville, MO; four nephews, Jim Warren, of Hollywood, CA, John Rowland, of Las Vegas, NV, Rev. Russell "Rusty" Smith and wife Carla, of Independence, MO and Ryan Smith and wife Lindsey, of Sedalia; three nieces, Barbara Colter, of Leavenworth, KS, Pat Bush, of Mission, KS and Debbie Moore and husband Mike, of Parkville, MO; great nephews and nieces, T.J. Bush, Jeff Emert, Bonnie Emert-Crilly, Amanda Colter and Samantha Colter; three great-great nieces, Cheyanne Bush, Savanna Smith and Desi Colter; and one great-great nephew, Morrison Crilly.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Russell Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Emert, T.J. Bush, Ryan Smith, Rusty Smith, Bob Rowland and Mike Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Howard, Pam Hunter and Robert Gee. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006, in the Logsdon family plot in Belleview Cemetery near Edwards, MO.

Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Frances Smith Memorial Fund, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
