Ralph John Smith was born in Northfield, Minnesota, son of Walter and Ella (Skaglund) Smith. In 1930, he married Zella May Logsdon. They had three children: Frances Jean (1932-2006), Bonnie Lee, Wint Eugene. On January 21, 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a Tec 5 in the 87th Field Hospital M.D. He was discharged November 8, 1945. Ralph was a truck driver for many years. He lived most of his life in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City,Missouri. Ralph & Zella divorced about 1948. He had a Protestant funeral September 25, 1968 with military Chaplain Major Ford officiating.
