Gaynell Fields Brooks, 72, formerly of Belton Honea Path area, passed away Tuesday January 3, 2017.

Born July 28, 1944 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Leora Banister Fields. Gaynell was a lifelong resident of Anderson County, graduate of Honea Path High School and recent resident at Linley Park Rehab and Nursing Care. She is happily remembered by friends and family as a proud loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, always ready to show family pictures and talk about her love for her family. She was always seen with her Bible near or being read at Linley Park. Gaynell was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Melinda Wheeler; grandson, Chris Wheeler and his wife, Amy; two great grandson, Brett and Benjamin Wheeler all of Anderson and brother, Donnie Fields and his wife, Peggy of Piedmont.

A graveside service will be held at 3pm Friday at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Kirt Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7pm at Sullivan-King Mortuary, 3205 North Hwy 81.
