Elaine was born on Sept. 3, 1941, in Mount Vernon, Ill., to Opal and Jesse Burris.
Survivors include a brother, Noilla (Kathleen) Burris of Opdyke; two sons, Steven Cornwell of Ludlow and Jesse (Kathy) Cornwell of Urbana; a daughter, Loretta (Rick) Dubson of Riverview, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Jan (Vince) Falvey, Abby (Aaron) Walston, Judy (Tom Fultz) Cornwell, Steven Cornwell, Melissa Cornwell, Ollie (Megan) Cornwell, Nicholas Dubson, Preston Latimer, Cody Dubson and Samantha Dubson; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Jesse Burris; a brother, the Rev. Garlin Burris; a sister, Carolene Kennedy; and a son, Wayne Cornwell.
Elaine worked as a secretary at the University of Illinois for many years.
Elaine was a kind soul who delighted all of those who knew her. She enjoyed laughing and bringing joy to everyone around her. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed gardening. Elaine loved spending time with all and was the heart of her family and friends. She also loved animals and the outdoors.
