Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, January 10, 1911, pg 5 col 2: Young Wife Is Called By Death. Mamie Elizabeth Nicholson, wife of Robert M. Nicholson, died yesterday in Chico Vecino. Death was due to pneumonia, following the birth last week of a daughter, which lived but two days.

The deceased was an estimable young woman. She was born in Chico Canyon, October 15, 1879, and lived most of her life in this county and at Butte Meadows. She was married to Robert Nicholson on June 25, 1906, and is survived by him and the following relatives: Her mother, Mrs. Ellen Lucas of Forest Ranch; four brothers, John Lucas and George Lucas of Chico, Paul Lucas of Forest Ranch and Charles Lucas of Tepezela, Mexico. A large number of friends mourn her death.

Funeral services will be held this morning at 10 o’clock at the home of Robert Cameron in Chico Vecino. The remains will be interred in Chico Canyon.

Chico Record, Wednesday Morning, January 11, 1911, pg 5 col 4: Beloved Woman Is Laid At Rest. The funeral of Mrs. Mamie Elizabeth Nicolson was held yesterday morning at 10 o’clock. At that hour a large number of friends and relatives gathered at the home of her sister, Mrs. Robert Cameron, in Chico Vecino, to pay their last respects to a noble and beloved woman. Rev. Father Gualco, of whose church Mrs. Nicolson was a communicant, preached the funeral sermon. The local order of Eagles attended in a body, as Mr. Nicolson is a member of that order. The body was interred at the family burying ground in Chico canyon.
