"Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, at the Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home, Mound City, for Russell W. McCoy, 86, who died Saturday, December 13, 1986 in Tampa, Fla.

Mr. McCoy, the son of James and Ida Sperry McCoy, was born August 18, 1900, near Rock Port. He was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, and received his master's degree from Colorado State College, Greeley, Colo.

A long-time educator, he began teaching in Missouri in the fall of 1921, and was supervisor of schools at Tryon, Neb., when he retired in 1972. He taught in Kansas during most of his career, and had served as basketball and baseball coach at several Kansas schools. He was a member of various professional organizations. He was also a member of the Lions Club International.

His wife, Leona McCoy, preceded him in death in 1974.

Surviving are two sons, Ted McCoy, Rochester, Ill., and David McCoy, Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Cleta Kennish, Mound City; a sister-in-law, Esther McCoy, Mound City; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Jack Yates will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the New Liberty Cemetery, near Mound City."
